Our Come As You Are Drop-In Spaces rely on people who are willing to show up, listen, welcome, create and connect.

You don't need to have all the answers.

You don't need to be a counsellor.

Anchor — The Person Who Shows Up

The Anchor is the consistent presence at the heart of a Come As You Are Drop-In Space.

The Anchor commits to showing up — even if nobody else does.

She opens the space, prepares the welcome, makes the cuppa, waits and holds the framework.

We sit at the well because someone might come.

If the one arrives, the Anchor will already be there.

Anchor Support Volunteer

Support the Anchor with hospitality, conversation, connection and the practical running of the space.

Creative Facilitator

Bring your gift — art, textiles, making, music, writing, gardening, cooking, movement or another creative skill — and create opportunities for expression and connection.

Lived Experience Volunteer

Bring the understanding that comes from lived experience. You are never required to share your story.

Community Support Volunteer

Help create a welcoming environment through listening, connection, practical assistance and community participation.

Hospitality & Welcome Volunteer

A warm greeting, a chair and a cuppa can be the beginning of connection.

Student Placement

Opportunities may be available for students in social work, counselling, psychology, community services, creative practice and other helping professions, subject to placement requirements.

You may bring professional experience, lived experience, a creative gift, hospitality, community knowledge or simply a willingness to listen.

We Are Not There to Counsel

Underneath My Umbrella is a community-based mid-space, not a counselling or clinical service.

Volunteers are not there to diagnose, counsel, fix or take responsibility for another woman's journey.

We hold the framework.
She brings the moment.
